In our last round up of heroes who brighten our days while scratching a musical itch we celebrated the wonderful Jacob Givens. This time around I’m singing the praises of the brilliant Nick Harrison (AKA The Professor). Nick is (in my eyes at least) one of the top accounts on social media that takes a song and completely turns it on it’s head. Yes, we’ve all watched piano wedding walks of rock songs or mashups of pop hits with metal anthems but Harrison takes songs to an almost unrecognisable level with his ‘what if ________ were yacht rock?’ clips.
Think Soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Metallica, Nirvana, all transformed into silky smooth catchy yacht rock. It doesn’t sound like it’d work but it really does and with a resurgence in the genre (Toto with Christopher Cross are playing the HYDRO in a few weeks!) it’s only going to get bigger, especially when combined with Nick’s infectious smile and moves. This man radiates sunshine!
